Medieval Medicine with Bessie Borage (KS2)

Meet Bessie Borage and learn about medicine and cures from the Middle Ages.

  • Listen to the strange and wonderful cures of the day and look at Bessie’s table of objects, some of which can be handled with care.
  • Included in the session is the chance for the students to make a medieval amulet from air dry clay / herb bag to ward away sickness and disease.
  • Have a go at a quiz – find the cure for the ailment.
  • Find the medicinal herbs in a Word Search.

The session is delivered by Christina in medieval costume.

Cost is £2.50 per student plus travel expenses.  There is a catchment area for this session.

KS2 Medicine with Bessie Borage – Medicine, health and hygiene is reflected in changes in an aspect of social history from Anglo Saxons to present day.

Spoken Language: pupils will have the opportunity to
